Mole removal – the do-it-yourself approach | malehealthvic.org

Many people develop moles at some time in the lives. Often they are of no concern and, indeed, the familiar “beauty spot” is regarded as attractive. Many moles, however, are unsightly and, while there may be no medical reason for removing them, people just want to be rid of them.

If you have an unsightly mole that you want to remove, you normally have two choices – you can have it removed surgically, or else you can do it yourself. If you choose the latter option, there are a number of factors that you need to consider.

The do-it-yourself process usually involves the application of natural ingredients and herbs that are readily obtainable at modest cost. Because these are entirely natural there is little risk of adverse side effects. If you follow the instructions carefully, the mole will either detach itself from the skin or simply disappear. This is a gradual process and the ingredients used promote the growth of new skin cells, so scarring is unlikely.

While do-it-yourself mole removal is safe, effective and relatively inexpensive, there is a downside. Complete eradication of the mole can take quite a while and, if the mole is resistant or does not respond to the ingredients and herbs you use, the process could be unsuccessful, so you will have wasted a good deal of time and effort. Also, in some instances, the mole could grow back at the same place, as do-it-yourself methods do not always offer a permanent solution to the problem.

The most serious risk with the do-it-yourself approach, however, is that the mole could be malignant. In this case, dealing with the mole yourself could have dangerous consequences. You should, therefore, consult a healthcare professional before proceeding.

How you remove your mole is your decision but you need to be aware of all the factors involved. In most cases, dealing with the problem yourself will be the answer to the problem, but it is always wise to get professional advice just in case your mole is cancerous – that little extra effort could save your life.
