About 5 million US citizens (2-3% worldwide) suffer from psoriasis, a chronic skin disease composed of plaques and scales distributed on specific body areas. Current therapeutic treatment options fall into various classes: topical, oral, phototherapy and biologics. Oral and topical treatments have a limited efficacy (calcipotriol) and carry as well concerning side effects (e.g. topical steroids, acitretin). Phototherapy tends to be costly, inconvenient and relapsing. Biologics are high cost and relatively low efficacy drugs.
 
Now, there’s a proprietary, high efficacy topical treatment currently in Phase IIa clinical trial that has a highly safety profile, with none of the side effects of existing products.
  
In fact, the active ingredient in this treatment (API), has a well-defined pharmacologic profile with a previously unrecognized and remarkable therapeutic effect, shortening its time to market. It promotes dramatic shedding of scale within 1-2 weeks and profound healing within 4 weeks. See the before and after pictures above. 
 
The drug will be used as a local topical for body and scalp with a parallel low concentration shampoo (a market without a leader).
