Miranda Hart Shows Thinning Hair After Knee Operation – Hair loss

miranda hart comic relief knee operationShe’s famous for her starring role in hit TV show Miranda, and has popped up in many other programmes including a regular role in Call the Midwife. However, the comedienne and actress has been struggling to smile lately on account of a knee injury that has resulted in an operation for the star, who has been seen hopping about on crutches as she bravely attempts to continue her fundraising effort ‘Miranda’s Mad March’.

After undergoing surgery a fortnight ago, the star still looked to be in considerable pain as she hopped into a taxi earlier today, and her hair looked particularly thin, indicating that Miranda may be experiencing hair loss.

Hopping Towards Hair Loss?

Having an operation can lead to hair loss in the form of Telogen Effluvium. However this usually occurs after serious surgery and though hair prematurely enters the telogen, or resting phase of its cycly early, it still takes about three months before the hair sheds.

So, it’s probably unlikely that Miranda is losing hair due to her operation, and more likely that she’s experiencing a condition called female pattern hair loss. Pattern hair loss occurs when the androgen DHT causes hair follicles on the top of the scalp to shrink and produce thinner, weaker hair. Whilst in men this condition often results in a thinning crown or a receding hairline, in women an overall thinning atop the head occurs.

Because we inherit the predisposition to pattern hair loss from our family tree, as yet there is no ‘cure’ for it. That said, if Miranda wanted to prevent her hair thinning further and even regrow some of her loss, she could begin a hair loss treatment programme that contained minoxidil, the only clinically proven hair loss medication for women that has been licensed by the MHRA and approved by the FDA, the UK and US medical regulatory bodies respectively.

The Clinically Proven Way

Minoxidil is applied directly to the scalp twice a day, and up to a combined daily dose of 18% can be achieved with Belgravia’s high strength minoxidil formulation, which is significantly more effective on tough cases of hair loss than the 2% solution available from the chemist.

A comprehensive hair loss treatment plan brings together several key elements of the treatment process, from proven medication to 7 days a week support over the phone, in person or via the internet for our patients. Check-ups every three months allow Belgravia hair loss specialists to monitor the progress of our patients by comparing detailed multi-angle images, and then to make any necessary changes to the treatment plan to ensure that he optimum combination of medication and hair growth boosters is in place at all times.
