Boris Nemesis Eddie Mair Worried About Bald Patch – Hair loss

Boris Johnson Eddie Mair bald patchYou may know him as the interviewer who caused a stir recently by giving Mayor of London Boris Johnson a particularly hard grilling on The Andrew Marr Show, and Eddie Mair has since brushed off suggestions he’s in line to become the new Jeremy Paxman, the main presenter of BBC’s Newsnight. However, the PM on R4 presenter has confessed that he’s more worried about his hair loss than any possible career changes.

“Size Of A Dinner Plate”

Writing in the Radio Times, Mair explained: “The photos revealed something very shocking to me. What in my mind was my discreet but manageable bald spot is in fact the size of a dinner plate.”

The journalist was forced to confront his thinning crown when “the over-the-shoulder TV camera angle” showed it clearly for the nation to see, adding that “what’s worse, it was then relayed in every newspaper in the land”.

The Scottish news presenter, who has denied claims that he’s after a full time TV current affairs presenting gig, jested that: “My contract is up soon and I haven’t heard anything, so if you run a radio or TV station and you think there’s a future for a 47-year-old in a bad wig – call my agent.”

Avoid That “Bad Wig”

Whilst Mair’s jocular attitude towards his thinning hair is encouraging, there’s another way of dealing with male pattern hair loss that deals with the shedding directly via a dual pronged medical approach. A hair loss treatment programme can halt hair loss and even regrow hair in areas that have not gone completely bald, so it’s essential that men keep tabs on their hair and don’t wait for their balding to be caught on the television!

Male pattern hair loss occurs when androgen DHT attacks follicles atop the head, causing them to shrink and produce weaker hair. The oral medication Propecia blocks DHT, giving follicles the chance to recover providing that they haven’t ceased to produce hair altogether.

A second clinically proven medication, also approved by the FDA and licensed by the MHRA, minoxidil appears to encourage regrowth in affected follicles. Unlike Propecia, minoxidil can be varied in strength to suit the individual, and our pharmaceutical laboratory produces solutions resulting in a daily dose of up to 18%, considerably higher than the 5% available over the counter.

Our high strength minoxidil cream has proven particularly effective for treating a thinning crown, and if like Eddie you have noticed thinning in this area, a hair loss specialist can advise you of the results you can expect from medical treatment. You can also take a look at some before and during treatment photos to get an ideas of the hair loss we can treat.
