Psoriasis Treatment: The Cause, Symptoms And Natural Remedies …

psoriasis2Psoriasis is a chronic skin ailment that is non-contagious. It causes an inflammation on the skin surface resulting from the rapid production of skin cells. Occurrence of psoriasis is pegged upon the body’s immune system; an incorrect functioning of the immune system may result in interference with the genetic process of skin cells formation by causing rapid cell division.

While the psoriasis causes remains unknown, there is a strong link pointing to hereditary issues. A number of the victims suffering from psoriasis have had relatives, in the past, suffering from the same ailment. That notwithstanding, there are a few aggravators for the disease that include; stress, trauma, smoking, alcohol and some infections. One can identify psoriasis symptoms easily as they are well visible to the eye. Those suffering from psoriasis usually have red or pink spots on the thickened areas of their skin and the skin appears dry. The symptoms mostly feature on the knees, elbow and scalps but may also appear on other parts of the body such as the face and arms.

As with all other ailments, it always narrows down to how to get rid of psoriasis. There are both natural and pharmaceutical ways that are significant in psoriasis treatment. Though a complete cure from the disease is rare, the treatments curb the infection from spreading further to other parts of the body.

Researchers have found some natural psoriasis remedies, useful in treatment. The natural remedies derive their basis from the probable triggers for psoriasis. They include; uptake of zinc supplements, avoidance of long exposure hours to hot water during bathing, getting adequate exposure to direct sunlight and buffering the levels of vitamin D via use of supplements in the body if tests show that the levels are low.

A deficiency of zinc could result in psoriasis hence the need for the supplements. Similarly, a body deficient of vitamin D requires supplements lest the deficiency causes the inflammatory skin ailment; psoriasis. Long exposure to hot water tends to aggravate multiple skin conditions thus as a precaution, the exposure should be only adequate and not excessive.

Omega-3 fatty acid, vegetables, carrots, foods rich in zinc minerals and in vitamin C are the ideal diet for psoriasis. While omega-3 fatty acids improve the skin lesions, the other foods are significant in boosting the immune system of the body. They may not cure the condition but will reduce the symptoms and improve immunity.

Alcohol and excessive consumption of dairy products could trigger psoriasis breakouts and as such, those suffering from the skin ailment should avoid them. Those who drink alcohol are at a higher risk of infection while those who keep off from drinking experience steady health improvements as they heal from psoriasis. Dairy products, on the other hand, contain arachadonic acid, which causes inflammations, and increase the pace of breakout of psoriasis.
