Question: My wife underwent chemotherapy and radiotherapy for a Lymphoma in 2012.The treatment was completed 15 months ago. Her hair has grown back except for a section which has grown back very thinly. Is there any treatment available that can improve this area? She is 63.

Answer: Hair grows back spontaneously after cancer treatment. There are rare cases whereby the hair grows back with a different colour or texture. Scarring can also explain why the hair has not grown back. There is a chance that some of the follicles were damaged during the treatment process and therefore the hair can no longer grow back. Give it more time to see if the thin patch improves. The treatment for women’s hair loss that we prescribe at Belgravia is sadly not suitable for use post-cancer.
