Dubai Derma pre-courses discusses modern treatment methods for …

Coming from the UK, Lebanon, Egypt, Kuwait, KSA and the UAE, more than 12 specialists are discussing therapeutic methods and the latest in the field during Dubai Derma pre-courses.

The pre-course sessions cover different topics that are beneficial to all participants especially those applying for the Arab Board of Dermatology Exam which will be held in May. Some of the topics are discussed for the first time during Dubai Derma such as: Genodermatoses and Kernitisation, while the pre-courses will also touch upon new advancements in Tropical Therapy, Acne and Systemic Therapy, How to Establish a Hair Clinic in the Office, Clinical Cases for the Boards, Facial Muscles Anatomy: An Essential Prerequisite, Highlight of Arab Board Residency Program, Skin Manifestations of Systemic Diseases and Skin Emergency, Histopathology of Blistering Disorders, Skin Tumors: What You’re Expected to Know, in addition to the demonstration of the 30 Dermatopathology Cases Common in the Exam.

Dr. Ibrahim Galadari, Professor of Dermatology at the UAE University and Chairman of Dubai Derma Conference, said, “The pre-courses are an excellent opportunity for dermatologists under training who need the credit hours presented by the UAE University. More than 100 participants registered for this year’s course. Courses will also discuss modern treatment methods for psoriasis, vitiligo and genetic skin diseases.”

Dr. Galadari also mentioned that Dr. Mohammed Hisham Al Sibai, the Sectary General of the Arab Board of Dermatology is participating this year. Dr. Sibai will give an introduction about the Arab board which is an elite board for medial specializations. More than 2000 Arab doctors graduated from the board last year.

Dr Flavia Pretti Aslanian, Consultant dermatologist and senior lecturer at Kingston Hospital NHS in London, said, “It is an honor to share my experience on Skin & Systemic diseases at the Dubai Derma pre-course /2013. It is very important to know diabetes-related skin conditions as approximately 30% to 50% of diabetic patients develop skin disease. It aims to give a broad view of relevant subjects in Dermatology, raise positive discussions about interesting cases, for an in-depth knowledge of this amazing Speciality.”

More over, Dr. Reem El Bahtimi, Medical Director, Consultant Pathologist and Director of Dermatopathology at the National Reference Laboratory, said, “I have been involved with Dubai Derma pre-conference courses for the past 6 years. In her lectures, Dr. Reem focuses on Dermatopathology, which is the study of skin pathology. “During this course, I will be reviewing Adnexal tumors; these are tumors that arise from the Hair follicle, Sebaceous glands, Eccrine and Apocrine glands. These tumors are usually benign and less common. However, they have distinct architectural features and they are always on the boards,” continued Dr. Bahtimi.

Dr. Hassan Galadari, Assistant Professor of Dermatology at the University of the UAE and Consultant at the Twam Hospital, said, “In addition to the major topics that will be covered in the pre conference course, the course will showcase the return of the very popular ‘Mock Exam’. The exam simulates the environment that the Arab Board of Dermatology exam will be like and thus allows the attendees to feel acquainted and at ease for the real board exam. The ‘Mock Exam’ will comprise of questions not only covered during the pre- course sessions, but those that may be asked during the actual exam in May. In addition, the highest 3 marks will be honored with cash prizes.”

This 4-day course comes ahead of the Dubai World Dermatology and Laser Conference and Exhibition (Dubai Derma) which will commence next Tuesday, Apil 16th and will last for three days at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre. Dubai Derma is held under the patronage of HH Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Minister of Finance and Chairman of the Dubai Health Authority.
