Eczema is a very common type of skin disease which is also known as atopic dermatitis. The chronic disease is characterized by itchiness, redness, inflammation and dryness of the skin. Approximately 30% of eczema has been found in Western Europe. It affects people from all ethnic backgrounds and found in both males and females equally. The disease is mostly found in Western Europe, Australia and North America, and the number has been rising each year.

Symptoms :

A patient suffering from Eczema has symptoms like hay fever, asthma, chronic urticaria. The disease may also create inflammation, burning sensation, scratches and itchiness on the skin. This disease is non-contagious which affects the areas of the head, neck, face, arms, ankle and knees.   • Lotions and creams are recommended as the best healing methods to treat mild eczema. Patients are advised to keep their skin moist which prevents dryness and itchiness to some extent problems. There are several oil based creams and lotions available which help to nourish the infected skin.

  • Corticosteroid based creams also help in preventing the dryness and itchiness of the skin. These creams are used on the face and meant for used legs and hand eczema treatment.

  • Some immune-suppressing drugs are also useful for this inflammatory problem such as calcineurin inhibitors, cyclosporine (Sandimmune, Neoral,) and methotrexate.

  • Antihistamines are other effective drugs which are used to cure eczema.

Natural Treatment :

  • Sandalwood paste is the best natural treatment for the atopic dermatitis. The sandal wood contains healing and cooling elements that help in getting rid of inflammation, redness and itchiness.

  • Neem oil is one of the best natural products which has been effective in treating several types of atopic dermatitis. The oil is directly applied on the affected area and gives cooling effect.

  • Other natural oils like the coconut oil, salmon oil and olive oil etc. are also useful in treating atopic dermatitis.

  • According to a research, aloe Vera is also effective in healing several types of skin diseases.
