I have extreme anal pain when passing stool. What do I do?
I’ve tried suppositories, creams, stool softeners, numbers, and nothing seems to make my pain go away! I tried to go to a free clinic but I was turned away last time because they didn’t have enough doctors and they only have them on Mondays. Afterward, I went to the hospital and they said I had thrombosed hemorrhoids and he gave me some stool softeners and some ointment. It’s not working. He said to follow up with a colon & rectal surgeon if the pain persists, but I am 20 years old and I don’t have health insurance. I don’t know what health insurance I should get and I don’t make much money either. I’m so stressed and confused. I just want some help with my pain but it seems like I can’t get it treated. =( I hate going to use the toilet because it hurts so much.Plus I think it’s not just hemorrhoids, I think I may also have an anal fissure and possibly something else. What do I do?

Ouch! hemorrhoids are not a pleasant condition.If you had an Anal Fissure, you would know about it, (you would have ‘sh–it’ oozing through the fissure, even more unpleasant). Your Doctors original diagnosis is most likely correct. Hemorrhoids are hard to miss.
Perhaps you do need to have another good look at what you are putting into your body, (food, drink and/or other substances). If you are living and eating healthy, look at your physical activity, are you working your lower body too much? Check your Blood Pressure and your emotional stability, (stress, frustration and anger all can be associated with hemorrhoids).
Is there anyone in your extended family that has a history of hemorrhoids, it can be inherited. If your current treatment is failing, you may require surgery. I feel for you, living in a Country which has one Medical system for those who can pay and one for all the others.
Only other advice, perhaps a herbalist may answer your question, there are alternative treatments out there. I’ll leave that to the experts. Good luck. doc
