Cooling The Heat Of Eczema Inflammation | ScratchMeNot Blog

Did you know that one of the biggest reasons why eczema is painful, itchy, and prone to infections is inflammation? When the skin and tissues under the affected area become inflamed, the real problems begin. Fighting inflammation can lead to a huge decrease in eczema issues, and today I’m going to share a few ‘do it yourself’ ideas for soothing and cooling the heat of eczema inflammation. These all-natural remedies might be a great alternative to steroids or strong topical creams for your child, so try them out and see how they work for you!

Cooling Cucumber Wash

Cucumbers are known for their ability to soothe and cool the body, but they can also fight inflammation! A cool cucumber wash can stop the heat of inflammation, soothe the skin, hydrate deeply, and deliver some helpful nutrients right where they’re needed most.

To make the wash…

Soak 1 cup of thinly sliced cucumber in clean water. Add the cucumber slices and water to a lidded jar and place in the fridge for about 4-6 hours. Strain, soak up some of the liquid with a clean cloth, and use it to apply the cucumber wash like a poultice. You can’t really go wrong here unless there are specific cucumber allergies, so feel free to leave the cloth in place until it needs to be refreshed.

Aloe Vera Miracles

All natural, organic aloe vera gel is a powerful way to cool and soothe inflamed skin while also helping heal and protect. It’s idea to use gel from a fresh plant, but if that’s not a possibility for you, check out all natural options from a local health shop.

Aloe very gel should be applied in thin, light coats so that the skin can still breathe freely.

Go Coconuts!

Organic, cold pressed coconut oil is selling like crazy these days because of how many benefits it offers. Coconut oil is light, deeply moisturizing, antibacterial and antiviral, and amazingly soothing. It’s a wonderful treat for the skin and it seems to do really well in cases of eczema inflammation.

Try applying a thin layer of coconut oil to the area and letting it soak in before going on with the day.

As with all home remedies, please make sure that you only use the very best organic ingredients, and never use anything that causes allergic reactions. Check with your doctor if you have any questions or concerns before using any remedies.
