My first visit to Bangkok hospital Phuket was in 2009 for a breast augmentation and lift with implants as well as a tummy tuck.
I travelled by myself on an individual package arrived quite nervously in Phuket, having heard every horror story regarding having surgery overseas, from my “friends”. When I saw the hospital, I was amazed.
It was exceptional. The Doctors and Nurses were all dressed in uniform, Doctors in white coats, it looked so professional. It certainly was very modern.
I had an appointment with Dr. Jib who was just so reassuring and a lovely man. I felt very comfortable discussing my surgery. He answered all of my questions and I felt very safe. Off I went for blood tests etc before surgery.
A problem was detected, my surgery had to be postponed as I had too much potassium in my blood. Dr. Jib put me on medication and after 3 days I went back for more blood tests. Dr.Jib had me do a “stress test” to make sure everything was safe before surgery.
This was in another section of the hospital, and again I was treated very professionally. All was well and I was taken to insert my drip pre-surgery. I happily went off in a wheelchair to the operating theatre where I was greeted by the staff and Dr.Jib chatted to me before I drifted off to sleep.
When I woke, I was in recovery where the staff took excellent care of me. I remember being cold and the nurse gave me a warm blanket. The next thing I knew, I woke in my room. I had been upgraded to The Presidential suite- it had a small kitchen, lounge and 2 bathrooms, as well as the usual hospital room. Wow, I felt very privileged.
I had a call button beside my bed and when I pressed it a nurse would be by my side within minutes. The medication was kept in a locked safe in my room, so always on hand if pain meds were required. I , so meds were required the first couple of days and I can honestly say because the staff were so prompt, I barely had any pain. They were dedicated to their job and my comfort seemed to be a priority.
Dr.Jib visited me everyday during my stay. I was so pleased with the results of my surgery and spoke to him about repairing my hare lip scars and to tidy up my crooked nose. He reassured me that he could bring my top lip down towards my bottom lip, and do something for my wonky nostril.
I was so confident in Dr. Jib, I arranged to go back the following year for this corrective surgery, and also I had a face lift while I was there. I thought, why not?
I was 55, my children had grown, I trusted the doctor and the staff at Bangkok Hospital Phuket.
Because it was my second visit for surgery, I was upgraded to again to the Presidential Suite. It sure was fantastic. I had a 2 bedroom suite, complete with computer, 2 lounge areas and two bathrooms. I felt very special. I was very pleased with the face lift and repair to the hair lip, I feel much more confident and happy.
I am so glad I didn’t listen to my friends about going overseas for surgery.
Bangkok Hospital Phuket is like a 5 star hotel rather than a hospital. I can’t speak highly enough of the staff, from the reception area right through to the cleaners, drivers, nurses and doctors, everyone was exceptional.
I went back again the following year and had lens replacement surgery to fix my eyesight.
I no longer need glasses and have fantastic vision. Again the staff were brilliant, it was day surgery and I was in and out of the hospital the same day. I had one eye repaired on the Sunday and the second eye on the following day. I have perfect eyesight now.
I have no more surgery planned, I am very happy with all the results. However I still visit the hospital just to say hello to the staff, they have become friends over the years and a visit to the hospital is always on my holiday to do list.
I can’t speak highly enough of the staff and treatment I received during my stays at Bangkok Hospital Phuket, and the best thing of all, it was about a third of the price that the same surgeries would have cost me in Australia. A very professional, clean and beautiful hospital with wonderful caring staff. If you are thinking about it, don’t think, just do it. You won’t regret it!
I am happy to chat to anyone who needs an extra bit off reassurance, the media does it so well when they set out to make overseas surgery “dangerous”, I am living proof they they are brilliant. Please contact me on Facebook or ask Claire to pass on my details!
